Outcome elements
In workflows, the outcome element marks the end of the automated processes.

Although your workflow can have multiple outcomes when you're using branches, an assessment will only ever reach one outcome each time it goes through the workflow.
The possible outcomes are as follows:
Pass automatically: After all tasks have been passed, the assessment is passed automatically. Once this outcome has been applied, the assessment flag becomes Decided.
Manual review: After all tasks have been passed, a user or the API must manually pass the assessment. Once this outcome has been applied, the flag becomes Ready for decision.
Escalate assessment: After all tasks have been passed, the assessment is escalated to one or more specified teams. When all escalation teams have given their approval, a user or the API must manually pass the assessment. Once this outcome has been applied, the flag becomes Waiting on escalations.
Immediate failure: The assessment is failed automatically. Optionally, you can include a reason for the failure, which is displayed in the entity's audit report. Once this outcome has been applied, the flag becomes Decided. Note that tasks need not be completed for this outcome to be applied.
The Immediate failure outcome only fails assessments that have never been passed. An assessment that was previously passed can reach this outcome if it goes through the workflow again. In this case, a user or the API must manually cancel the assessment. The flag is Ready for decision.
Passed or failed assessments
When an assessment passes, it goes into the monitoring stage. Note that there are some circumstances that prompt the workflow to be re-applied to the assessment.
When an assessment fails, this is the end of the lifecycle in most cases. However, it is possible to revert the decision manually. If this happens, the workflow is reapplied to the assessment.
